Specialty graph paper for math and science

• Polar graph paper is a set of rings spreading out from one center point, crossed by lines every 5, 10, 15 or 30 degrees, with labels in degrees or radians. Use it to plot points given as a distance and an angle, or to graph roses, spirals and cardioids in precalculus.
• Semi-log graph paper has a normal scale on one axis and a logarithmic scale on the other, in 1 to 5 cycles. Anything that grows by the same percentage each step, like bacteria or compound interest, plots as a straight line. The semi-log plot article on Wikipedia explains why.
• Log-log graph paper uses log scales both across and up, which straightens power laws such as y = x² or y = 1/x become straight lines whose slope is the power.
• Hexagon graph paper comes with flat-top or pointy-top hexagons from 1/8 inch to 1 inch. It is popular for board game and tabletop role-playing maps, organic chemistry rings, quilting and tile designs.

Free printable paper templates for notes and study

The Cornell notes template splits the page into a narrow cue column, a wide notes column and a summary box at the bottom. Take notes on the right during class, write questions and key words on the left afterwards, then sum up the page in two or three sentences. The method was developed at Cornell University by Walter Pauk, and you can read more about the Cornell Notes system on Wikipedia. Our template comes in wide, college or narrow ruling.

Blank number lines give 4 to 10 lines per page with 5, 10, 12 or 20 spaces. Leave the numbers off for open number line work, or start at any number to practice counting on, fractions or negative numbers.

Printable specialty paper for art and storytelling

• Perspective drawing paper draws a horizon line and guide lines from one or two vanishing points, with a high, middle or low horizon. Sketch boxes, streets and rooms along the guides and they look three-dimensional straight away.
• Calligraphy practice paper is measured in nib widths. Pick your nib from 1 mm to 5 mm and choose how many nib widths tall the ascenders, x-height and descenders should be; the guide and slant lines follow. That is how calligraphy teachers size italic and foundational hands.
• Storyboard templates give 3 to 12 frames in 16:9, 4:3 or square shapes with lines for notes, for planning videos, animations, presentations or school projects.
• Comic book templates use the same panels with comic-style gutters, so kids and adults can draw their own strips and pages.

Printable specialty paper for music and crafts

• Guitar tab paper prints six-line staves for guitar, four-line staves for bass or seven lines for 7-string guitar, with string names and bar lines if you want them.
• Blank chord charts fit up to 30 chord boxes on one page, with 4 or 5 frets, for guitar or ukulele. Fill them in as you learn new chords and keep them in your songbook.
• Knitting graph paper is the clever one. A knit stitch is usually a little wider than it is tall, so ordinary square graph paper squashes your design. Enter your gauge in stitches and rows per 4 inches, and the boxes are drawn in the same proportion, so colorwork and intarsia charts look right when knitted.

How to print from the specialty paper generator at exact size

Every printable specialty paper sheet in the generator is measured in real units, so a 1/4 inch hexagon or a 3.8 mm nib guide is that size on paper. To keep it exact, set the scale to 100% in the print window (some printers call it Actual size) and switch off any shrink-to-fit option. Choose Letter or A4 before downloading instead of letting the printer scale one into the other. For graphs and calligraphy, a light gray or blue line color keeps the guides visible without distracting from your work.
