Asia flag quiz: design features to look for

Every question in an Asia flag quiz comes down to a few design clues: the colors, the number of stripes and the symbols. These are the clues that matter most in Asia:

  • Nepal has the only national flag that is not a rectangle: it is made of two stacked pennants.
  • Japan and Bangladesh both have a red disc, on white and on green, and Japan’s disc is in the exact center.
  • Cambodia is famous for having a building on its flag, the temple of Angkor Wat.
  • The Pan-Arab colors (red, white, black and green) are on the flags of Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq, and the layout tells them apart.
  • Pakistan and Turkey have a crescent and a star, on green and on red, and Singapore has a crescent with five stars.
  • India has saffron, white and green stripes and a blue wheel with 24 spokes. Niger, in Africa, has the same colors but an orange disc.
  • Indonesia has red over white, and Monaco has the same colors: the flags differ only in their proportions.
