How to play Bollywood bingo online: host in four steps
- Choose the card style and how many cards you need (one per player).
- Choose how calls happen: I reveal each call (you control the pace, perfect when you act out films or play songs) or Automatic (a new film every few seconds, and phones mark themselves).
- Share the guest link on WhatsApp and give each player a card number.
- When someone shouts “Bingo!”, type their card number into Check a claim.
Playing Bollywood bingo online on a video call
Share your screen with the host view so everyone sees each film as it is revealed, and keep the guest link in the chat. Each player keeps their own card open in a phone browser. Nothing needs installing, and the game keeps working even if someone’s internet drops for a moment.
Fun ways to call Bollywood bingo online
- Say the title: the simplest way, great for mixed ages.
- Act it out: dumb charades style; the first person to guess wins a bonus sweet.
- Dialogue baazi: say a famous line from the film instead of its name.
- Play a song: play a hit song from the film and let players work out which film it is from.
- Emoji clue: send an emoji clue on the family WhatsApp group (three graduation caps? a train and a field of yellow mustard flowers?).

Play Bollywood bingo online: manual or automatic calls
When you play Bollywood bingo online, you choose how the films are called. The choice depends on the style of your evening:
| How you call | When to use it | Time for a first line (20 players) |
|---|---|---|
| I reveal each call (manual) | Acting out films, playing song clips or giving dialogue clues: you control the pace | About 7 to 11 minutes at 20 to 30 seconds per film |
| Automatic, 5 to 10 seconds | A fast game where the title is read out and phones mark themselves | About 2 to 4 minutes |
| Automatic, 30 seconds or more | A slow game with a chat, a quiz or a song after each call | About 11 minutes at 30 seconds |
With 73 films on the starter list and a 5 by 5 card holding 24 of them, a first line arrives after about 22 films with 20 players. This table shows when each prize is usually won:
| Players | First line (call) | Four corners (call) | Full card (call) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 players | 25 (21 to 29) | 39 (31 to 45) | 67 (65 to 69) |
| 20 players | 22 (18 to 25) | 33 (27 to 39) | 66 (64 to 67) |
| 40 players | 19 (15 to 22) | 28 (23 to 33) | 64 (62 to 66) |

Online Bollywood bingo on a video call: tips for the host

- Switch off “Read calls aloud” if you act out the films yourself, so that the voice does not give away the answers.
- Ask players to unmute only to shout the answers, and keep the rest of the call muted.
- Use the chat for emoji clues: a train and a field of yellow mustard flowers for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
- Have a second person watch the claims list, so that the host can focus on the acting.

Bollywood bingo with friends: ideas for teams and prizes
Bollywood bingo with friends is more fun with teams. Split the group into two teams, give each team a captain and let the team with the first line win a round. Small prizes can be virtual: a shout-out, the right to choose the next song or the title of “Filmfare Winner of the Night”.
