Free math worksheets for kindergarten to grade 5
These free math worksheets cover what children practise in their first six years of school, from counting objects to long division, fractions and decimals. Pages come in US Letter and A4 versions, and each of our printable math worksheets ends with its own answer key, so checking takes a minute rather than an evening.
Pick a topic below for ready-made sheets, or open any sheet in the customizer to change the numbers, the title or the number of problems. You can print a fresh copy whenever the old one is filled in, which makes these free math worksheets just as useful for a quick warm-up at the kitchen table as for a whole class.

Printable math worksheets by topic
Start with the four operations. Inside each topic, the sheets climb one small step at a time, which makes it easy to pick the level your child is ready for.
Addition worksheets
Adding within 10 and 20, then two- and three-digit addition with and without regrouping.
Multiplication worksheets
Arrays and equal groups first, then two-digit and multi-digit multiplication.
Beyond the four operations you will find free math worksheets for counting, comparing numbers, place value, rounding, fractions, decimals, money, telling time, measurement, geometry, graphing and word problems. Each one follows the same pattern: a clear example at the top, problems that build in small steps, and a key at the end.
Free math worksheets by grade
Grades are a guide rather than a rule. Children move at different speeds, so it is normal to use a sheet from the grade below to build confidence, or one from the grade above for a challenge. The table follows the order most schools teach, based on the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.
| Grade | What children practise | Good sheets to start with |
|---|---|---|
| Kindergarten | Counting to 20, addition and subtraction within 10, flat and solid shapes | Counting, addition within 10 |
| 1st grade | Fluent facts to 20, place value with tens and ones, reading clocks to the half hour | Place value, telling time |
| 2nd grade | Regrouping with two-digit numbers, coins and dollars, clocks to 5 minutes, bar graphs | Subtraction, money |
| 3rd grade | Times tables, division facts, fractions on a number line, area and perimeter | Times tables, fractions |
| 4th grade | Multiplying larger numbers, long division, equivalent fractions, converting units | Long division, measurement |
| 5th grade | Decimal place value, fraction operations, plotting points on a grid, multi-step word problems | Decimals, word problems |
Older children can move on to middle-school topics: solving equations, ratio and proportion, percentages, negative numbers and the order of operations.
Math worksheets with answer keys
Every sheet in this section is one of our math worksheets with answer keys. The worked answers sit on the final page of the same PDF, in the same order as the questions. Print only the first page for your child and keep the key for yourself, or print both and let an older child mark their own work.
Marking together is where much of the learning happens. When a child sees that 7 × 8 is 56 and not 54, and then spots the same slip twice more, the fact sticks far better than when the page simply comes back covered in crosses.
How to use printable math worksheets at home
- Little and often. Ten minutes a day, four or five days a week, does more than one long session at the weekend.
- Warm up with something easy. Begin with a few problems your child can already do, then move on to the new skill.
- Say it out loud. Ask your child to explain one answer in words. If they can explain it, they understand it.
- Mark it together. Use the answer key straight away, while the work is still fresh in their mind.
- Repeat with new numbers. Press Customize, then New numbers, to practise the same skill without memorising old answers.
Make your own sheets in seconds
When a ready-made page is not quite right, the math worksheet generator builds addition, subtraction, multiplication and division sheets to your own settings: carrying and borrowing on or off, a single times table, remainders, missing numbers or a timed drill. Teachers can print versions A to E so every child in a group gets different numbers on the same skill, and the worksheet customizer does the same for any of our free math worksheets. Each version prints with its own key, so they are still math worksheets with answer keys, however many copies you make.
Math charts and tools to use alongside
Hands-on tools help children see what the numbers mean. Print a multiplication chart for times tables practice, a hundreds chart for counting and skip counting, a number line for adding and subtracting, fraction strips for comparing fractions, base ten blocks to cut out, and a place value chart that fills itself in for any number. For a break from paper, the learning games practise times tables, addition and telling time on screen, and the calculators show every step of a fraction, percentage or long division problem.
Puzzles and word worksheets
The word search maker turns any word list into a puzzle with an answer key, from 8 by 8 for young children to 20 by 20 for adults, with large print and dyslexia-friendly fonts. The hidden message word search maker adds a secret message spelled by the leftover letters, and seasonal packs such as the Halloween word search and the Halloween puzzle pack are ready to print.
Frequently asked questions
6 quick answers
Are these math worksheets really free?
Yes. Every one of our free math worksheets downloads without an account or payment, whether it is for the kitchen table or a whole class. Signing up is optional and simply lets you save favorites.
Is there an answer key for each sheet?
Yes. Each of our printable math worksheets finishes with a key page that lists the answers in question order.
Which grades are these worksheets for?
Kindergarten to grade 5, and each sheet shows the grades it suits. Middle-school pupils will find equations, ratios, percentages, negative numbers and the order of operations in their own sections.
Will the sheets fit A4 paper?
Yes. Each one is laid out separately for A4 and for US Letter rather than shrunk to fit, so margins, grids and rulers come out right.
Can I make different versions for my class?
Yes. The math worksheet generator and the worksheet customizer print up to five versions at once, each with its own answer key, so neighbours cannot copy.
How much time should one worksheet take?
For most children 10 to 15 minutes is enough: one page, marked straight away. Short daily practice builds fluency faster than long sessions.
