These four pages show the printables: a page of two 5 by 5 cards with a line under each square for the names, a page of quick 4 by 4 cards, the small 3 by 3 cards and the one-page rules. Click any picture for the PDF, or use the generator at the top of the page to change the squares and the title.

Couples bingo cards: what is on them

The starter list has 28 squares in four groups. Every square is a friendly fact that a couple can answer in a sentence, and none asks for anything private, so the game stays light and funny.

Group Squares Squares on the starter list
Their story 7 Met at work, Met in college, Met through friends, Went on a first date to a movie, Had a love marriage, Had an arranged marriage, Grew up in the same city
Wedding and milestones 6 Got married abroad, Married in winter, Honeymooned in the hills, Have renewed their vows, Married 10+ years, Have been married less than 2 years

Find a couple who: how to play

  1. Give each person a card. Couples can share a card, or each partner can play alone for more fun.
  2. Explain the rule. Find a couple that matches each square and write their names in it. A couple can be used only once per card.
  3. Mingle. Guests walk around and ask questions for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Shout bingo. The first guest with a complete line shouts, and the host reads the names to check them.
  5. Share the story. Each winner tells the group one thing she learned about a couple.

How many couples do you need for couples bingo?

Because each couple can be used only once per card, the number of couples at your party decides the card size. This table shows which card suits which crowd, and how many couples a guest must meet for a line.

Card Names for a full card Names for a line Smallest group that can fill a card
3 by 3 8 (no free square) or 9 3 names 9 people
4 by 4 16 4 names 17 people
5 by 5 with free square 24 5 names 25 people

If your party has fewer couples than a card needs, let a couple appear twice, or play for a line only. A short game also helps, because guests who have found three or four matches are already talking to each other.

Couples party games that start conversations

Couples party games work best when they give couples something to share with other couples. Bingo does that: a couple who “Met in college” has an instant story, and another couple who “Had an arranged marriage” has a different one. Play bingo first, then a couples quiz or couples tambola, and the party will already be warm.

Couple games for kitty party nights

Couple games for kitty party nights should be quick and cheerful. Couples bingo takes about 15 minutes, and tambola takes another 15, so a two-game evening fits comfortably in an hour. If your group meets every month, change a few squares each time so that the game stays new.

Anniversary party games and couples icebreaker ideas

Anniversary party games and couples icebreaker ideas can use the same cards. For an anniversary, add squares such as “Married on the same date” and “Danced at their own wedding”. For a new couples’ group, add squares such as “Love hiking” and “Have been to Goa together”. Add the date or the name of the couple being celebrated in the title box.

Run couples bingo in six steps

  1. Choose the card size: use the table above to match the card to the number of couples.
  2. Edit the squares: keep the 28 starter squares or add your own.
  3. Print: print one card for each guest, or one for each couple.
  4. Mingle: set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes and let guests walk around.
  5. Check: the host reads out the names for the first complete line.
  6. Reward: give a small prize and let the winners tell one story.

Tips for the host

  • Keep the squares light, and avoid anything that puts one partner on the spot.
  • Make sure every couple is included, and add squares that fit the couples who are new to the group.
  • If the group is large, give the 5 by 5 card, and if it is small, give 3 by 3.
  • Ask couples to introduce themselves with one fun fact before the mingle starts.
