The 11 times table game on this page practices 11 × 1 to 11 × 12 with four free games: Balloon Pop, Memory Match, Answer Race and True or False. Questions come in random order, so children learn the 11 times tables as facts they can recall and not as a chant. This is the table with repeating digits all the way up to 9 × 11. The whole table is 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121 and 132. There is no sign-up, scores stay on your device, and it works on phones, tablets and computers.
11 times table game: see how it plays
Each of the four modes asks only 11 times table questions, from 11 × 1 up to 11 × 12. The pictures show Balloon Pop, Memory Match and Answer Race on this page, and the printable chart puts all twelve facts, skip counting and a trick on one sheet.

How the 11 times table game works
- Balloon Pop: answers float up on balloons, and you pop the right one before it drifts off the top. The wrong balloons sit within 11 of the right answer, so you have to know the fact and not just spot the odd one out. The game speeds up as your score climbs, and three misses ends the round.
- Memory Match: twelve face-down cards hide six 11 times table questions and their six answers. Flip two at a time and match each question to its answer in as few moves as you can.
- Answer Race: every right answer moves your car forward, and you race three computer cars to the finish flag. The first to 15 wins, and wrong taps cost time, not places.
- True or False: sixty seconds on the clock. Decide whether each 11 times table sentence, such as 11 × 2 = 22, is right or wrong. A streak of five or more scores double.
The 11 times tables at a glance
Here is every fact in the 11 times tables with a quick way to build it from facts you already know:
| Fact | Answer | Build it from |
|---|---|---|
| 11 × 1 | 11 | 10 × 1 + 1 = 10 + 1 |
| 11 × 2 | 22 | 10 × 2 + 2 = 20 + 2 |
| 11 × 3 | 33 | 10 × 3 + 3 = 30 + 3 |
| 11 × 4 | 44 | 10 × 4 + 4 = 40 + 4 |
| 11 × 5 | 55 | 10 × 5 + 5 = 50 + 5 |
| 11 × 6 | 66 | 10 × 6 + 6 = 60 + 6 |
| 11 × 7 | 77 | 10 × 7 + 7 = 70 + 7 |
| 11 × 8 | 88 | 10 × 8 + 8 = 80 + 8 |
| 11 × 9 | 99 | 10 × 9 + 9 = 90 + 9 |
| 11 × 10 | 110 | 10 × 10 + 10 = 100 + 10 |
| 11 × 11 | 121 | 10 × 11 + 11 = 110 + 11 |
| 11 × 12 | 132 | 10 × 12 + 12 = 120 + 12 |
Skip counting by 11: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132. Say the numbers aloud while you walk or jump, because rhythm helps memory. Our guide to skip counting for kids has more ideas.
Multiplication by 11: patterns and tricks
The 11 times table has a lovely pattern up to 9 × 11: the answer repeats the digit you multiply by. 11 × 3 = 33, 11 × 6 = 66, and 11 × 9 = 99. After that, the pattern changes to 110, 121 and 132, which are the only facts that need to be remembered separately.
The pattern also works for two-digit numbers. To multiply 36 by 11, write the first and last digits with their sum in the middle: 3, (3 + 6), 6 gives 396. For 11 × 52, it is 5, (5 + 2), 2 = 572. If the middle sum is 10 or more, carry the 1 to the left.
A number made of one repeated digit, such as 33 or 66, is called a repdigit.
Only 2 new facts to learn in the 11 times tables
Every fact where the other number is smaller than 11 is a fact you have already met, because 11 × 3 is the same as 3 × 11. If you know the 2 to 10 times tables, only 2 facts are new: 11 × 11 = 121, 11 × 12 = 132.
Eleven times table practice: the hardest facts
The facts that children most often miss in eleven times table practice are 11 × 10 = 110, 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132. The facts that break the repeating-digit pattern are 11 × 10 = 110, 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132. The game keeps the questions random, so these facts come up again and again until they feel automatic.
The 11 times table in real life
- Soccer: a team has 11 players, so 2 teams on the pitch have 11 × 2 = 22 players.
- Cricket: an XI has 11 players, so 9 teams have 11 × 9 = 99 players.
- Tournaments: 12 teams of 11 players is 11 × 12 = 132 players.
11 times table word problems
Try these on paper or say them aloud, then check the answers:
- A soccer team has 11 players. How many players are on 6 teams? Answer: 66.
- A row has 11 seats. How many seats are in 9 rows? Answer: 99.
- There are 11 pages in each of 12 booklets. How many pages is that? Answer: 132.
Where the 11 times table fits at school
The 11 times table goes beyond the one-digit facts in the US standards, but many classrooms teach it in grade 3 or 4 so that children know every fact up to 12 × 12. In England, pupils are expected to know the tables up to 12 × 12 by the end of Year 4, and the national multiplication tables check is taken in June of that year. Short, frequent practice with a 11 times table game works better than one long session, because it spaces out the facts.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Start with the easy facts: 11 × 1 = 11, 11 × 2 = 22, 11 × 5 = 55 and 11 × 10 = 110. Then add 11 × 3 = 33, 11 × 4 = 44, 11 × 11 = 121 and 11 × 12 = 132.
- Play Memory Match first for accuracy, then move to Balloon Pop or Answer Race for speed.
- A few minutes a day beats one long session. Try to beat yesterday’s best score, and plan on a few days for the new facts.
- Ask “how did you know?” after a round. Hearing “I doubled it” or “I used the 10s” tells you the strategy is there.
Prefer paper? Print the 11 times table worksheets with answer keys, or use the multiplication chart to see all the tables together. The guide to times tables tricks covers every table in one place.
