Bollywood bingo game: how to play
- Give every player a different card, printed or on their phone.
- The host calls one film at a time, in any order, and ticks it on the caller list.
- Players mark the film if it is on their card.
- Prizes go to the first complete line (across, down or diagonal), the four corners and the full card.
Fun ways to call Bollywood Bingo Card Generator
- Say the title: the simplest way, great for mixed ages.
- Act it out: dumb charades style, with the first person to guess winning a bonus sweet.
- Dialogue baazi: say a famous line from the film instead of its name.
- Play a song: play a hit song from the film and let players work out which film it is from.
- Emoji clue: send an emoji clue on the family WhatsApp group, such as three graduation caps, or play the Bollywood emoji bingo version.
How long does a Bollywood bingo game last?
A Bollywood bingo game has three prizes: a line, the four corners and the full card. The 73-film list is larger than most home lists, so the simulation below shows the call number at which each prize is usually won, with 10, 20 and 40 players and the middle half of results in brackets.
| Card | Players | First line (call) | Four corners (call) | Full card (call) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 by 5 | 10 players | 25 (21 to 29) | 39 (31 to 45) | 67 (65 to 69) |
| 5 by 5 | 20 players | 22 (18 to 25) | 33 (27 to 39) | 66 (64 to 67) |
| 5 by 5 | 40 players | 19 (15 to 22) | 28 (23 to 33) | 64 (62 to 66) |
| 4 by 4 | 10 players | 23 (19 to 27) | 38 (31 to 45) | 63 (61 to 66) |
| 4 by 4 | 20 players | 19 (16 to 23) | 33 (26 to 38) | 61 (58 to 64) |
| 3 by 3 | 10 players | 16 (13 to 20) | 38 (31 to 45) | 55 (51 to 59) |
| 3 by 3 | 20 players | 14 (10 to 17) | 32 (26 to 38) | 52 (47 to 56) |
The full card needs about 64 to 67 calls out of 73, because a 5 by 5 card holds 24 of the 73 films and the last film on someone’s card can come late. Many hosts therefore play for the line and the corners, and stop the game when a card is full or when time runs out.
Bollywood bingo printable: card sizes compared
The Bollywood bingo printable comes in three card sizes, and each suits a different group:
- 5 by 5: 24 films and a free square, for adults and teenagers who know many titles.
- 4 by 4: 16 films and no free square, for a faster game of about 20 calls.
- 3 by 3: 9 films, for children and for people who know fewer films.
A 5 by 5 card can be filled in about 7 × 1042 different ways from the 73 films, so two cards in the same room are almost never alike.
Play Bollywood bingo with a song or a dialogue
If you want to play Bollywood bingo as a quiz, give the clue instead of the title. Say a famous line, such as “Mogambo khush hua”, and let players find the film. For the songs version, see Bollywood music bingo, and for a kitty party twist see Bollywood musical tambola.
