Eid tambola prizes and what they mean
The Eid theme gives each prize a name from the day itself, so reading the list sounds like a tour of the celebration. Here is what each prize means and how to win it:
| Prize | How to win | Eid link |
|---|---|---|
| Eidi Five | Early Five: the first five numbers marked on a ticket | Eidi is the gift or money given to children on Eid, and this is the first small gift |
| Chand Line | Top Line: all five numbers on the top row | Chand means moon, and the crescent moon marks the start of Eid |
| Sewaiyan Line | Middle Line: all five numbers on the middle row | Sewaiyan, a sweet dish of vermicelli, is served on Eid morning |
| Lantern Line | Bottom Line: all five numbers on the bottom row | Lanterns light the streets and homes in many countries |
| Four Stars | Corners: the first and last number of the top and bottom rows | One star in each corner of the ticket, like the stars beside the crescent |
| Eid Mubarak Full House | Full House: all fifteen numbers marked | The big blessing of the day, and the best wish to everyone |
Number calls for your Eid tambola
Eid has its own numbers, from the length of Ramadan to the pillars of Islam. Use these calls as small talking points, but keep them light, and let guests share their own family traditions.
| Number | Call it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | First of Shawwal | Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal |
| 2 | Two Eids | Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are the two main festivals of the year |
| 3 | Three days of Eid | In many countries the celebration of Eid al-Fitr lasts three days |
| 5 | Five pillars | The five basic practices of Islam |
| 10 | Tenth of Dhul Hijjah | Eid al-Adha falls on the tenth day of the month of Dhul Hijjah |
| 27 | Laylat al-Qadr | Many Muslims look for the Night of Power on the 27th night of Ramadan |
| 29 | Moon sighting | Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on when the new moon is sighted |
| 30 | The last fast | On the thirtieth day, the month completes and Eid begins |
How long does an Eid tambola game last?
An Eid tambola should fit between the Eid meal and the dessert, so it helps to know how long the game will run. The table shows when each prize is usually won and how many minutes the whole game takes at the default speed of 10 seconds a call.
| Tickets | Typical crowd | Early Five | First full line | Full House | Time at 10 s a call |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 tickets | a family Eid brunch | call 14 (12 to 17) | call 43 (36 to 49) | call 76 (71 to 78) | 13 min |
| 30 tickets | an Eid gathering with cousins | call 12 (10 to 14) | call 36 (31 to 41) | call 72 (69 to 75) | 12 min |
| 48 tickets | a community Eid party | call 11 (10 to 13) | call 32 (27 to 37) | call 70 (67 to 73) | 12 min |
| 90 tickets | a mosque or school Eid event | call 10 (9 to 11) | call 29 (25 to 33) | call 68 (64 to 70) | 11 min |
The numbers come from real simulations of this generator: 300 games for each ticket count, with the typical call number and the middle half of results in brackets. More tickets mean the first prizes arrive sooner, but with 12 to 90 tickets the Full House still comes around call 68 to 76, because someone must complete all fifteen numbers. For a big gathering, choose 8 seconds a call so the game finishes before the guests start to leave.
Eid party games for the whole family
Eid party games should be easy for children, relaxed for grandparents and cheerful for everyone in between. Tambola fits: it needs only a ticket, a pen and the sound of the numbers. Guests can play from their seats at the table, children can sit with an adult, and the game can pause for prayers or for a plate of food and start again without losing its place, as long as you keep the caller sheet.
Eid games for family gatherings
Eid games for family gatherings usually start after the big meal. Tambola gives each child a ticket, which is far easier than organizing teams for an outdoor game, and the prizes can double as Eidi. Wrap small gifts, sweets or stationery and let each winner choose one. If the group is large, cut the tickets so that adults share and children play alone.
Eid ul Fitr games and Eid kitty party ideas
Among Eid ul Fitr games, tambola is one of the easiest to set up, and for an Eid kitty party it is a good ice-breaker. The host can announce each prize in turn, and the group can agree on small prizes in advance. For a different mood, try Chai and Chatter bingo alongside it, where guests mingle to find someone who has a pet, loves cooking biryani or plays a musical instrument.
How to run a Eid tambola in six steps
- Before Ramadan ends: count the guests who are likely to come, and add a few spare tickets.
- A few days before Eid: type the greeting and the family name into the generator, print the tickets and cut the strips.
- Prepare the prizes: wrap six small gifts or Eidi envelopes and label them with the prize names.
- On Eid: hand each guest a ticket and a pen, or a few dates or sweets as markers.
- Before the first number: read the prize list aloud and wish everyone Eid Mubarak.
- After the game: check each win against the caller sheet, hand out the prizes and keep the tickets as a keepsake.

Host tips for a smooth game
- Choose small, simple prizes, and let children pick their own from a tray.
- Keep the pace slow enough for children to find the number, then speed up as the game goes on.
- Use dates, nuts or sweets as markers and eat them after the game.
- Invite elders to read the numbers aloud, so the game connects the generations.
Wikipedia’s Eid al-Fitr article describes the history and the customs of the festival around the world.
