Starbucks cup sizes run from Short (8 fl oz, 237 mL) to Trenta (30 fl oz, 887 mL). Hot drinks stop at Venti (20 fl oz, 591 mL), iced Venti is 24 fl oz (710 mL), and Trenta is for cold drinks only. This guide lists every Starbucks drink size in ounces and milliliters, then shows how many espresso shots, syrup pumps, calories and caffeine each size really contains, using the Starbucks menu data behind our Starbucks calorie calculator.

Starbucks cup sizes: how big is each one?
Starbucks cup sizes are fixed volumes, so a Grande is always 16 fluid ounces, hot or iced. The sizes that change with temperature are Venti and Trenta, because iced drinks use a bigger cup that leaves room for ice. Milliliters below are fluid ounces times 29.5735.
| Size | Hot (fl oz) | Iced (fl oz) | Hot (mL) | Iced (mL) | Where you find it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short | 8 | 8 | 237 | 237 | Hot only on most drinks |
| Tall | 12 | 12 | 355 | 355 | Hot and iced |
| Grande | 16 | 16 | 473 | 473 | Hot and iced |
| Venti | 20 | 24 | 591 | 710 | Hot 20 fl oz, iced 24 fl oz |
| Trenta | – | 30 | – | 887 | Iced drinks only |

How many ounces is a Grande, a Venti and a Trenta?
A Grande is 16 fl oz (473 mL), a Venti is 20 fl oz hot or 24 fl oz iced, and a Trenta is 30 fl oz (887 mL). In cups, a Grande is 2 cups, an iced Venti is 3 cups and a Trenta is 3.75 cups. The jump from Tall to Venti iced doubles the drink: 12 fl oz becomes 24 fl oz. So when someone asks how many ounces is a grande, the answer is 16 fl oz, hot or iced.
For other conversions, such as cups, liters or pints, use the unit converter. A Venti iced drink is 24 fl oz, which is 3 cups, and a Trenta is a little under 4 cups.
Short, tall, grande, venti, trenta: how many drinks come in each size?
Not every drink is offered in every size. Counting the 179 drinks on the current menu data (2026-10-14), this is how many drinks offer each of the Starbucks cup sizes:
| Size | Hot drinks that offer it | Iced drinks that offer it |
|---|---|---|
| Short | 46 | – |
| Tall | 42 | 112 |
| Grande | 42 | 112 |
| Venti | 42 | 110 |
| Trenta | – | 45 |
Short is a hot-only size, and Trenta is limited to 45 iced drinks such as cold brew, Refreshers, iced tea and lemonade. Pink Drink, for example, comes in Tall, Grande, Venti and Trenta, while an iced latte stops at Venti.
What are the smaller and off-menu cup sizes?
- Short (8 fl oz): the smallest regular cup, available for hot drinks such as lattes, cappuccino, flat white and hot chocolate. It is the same size as the Kids cup on hot drinks.
- Kids (8 fl oz hot, 12 fl oz lemonade): a small portion of hot chocolate, steamed milk or a crème, plus a 12 fl oz kids lemonade, per the menu data.
- Espresso servings: single, double, triple and quad shots are measured in small amounts (single 0.8 fl oz, double 1.5 fl oz, triple 2.2 fl oz, quad 3 fl oz), as the menu lists them.
A few drinks are only sold as a Short, for example Cortado, Pecan Cortado, Pistachio Cortado.
One quirk in the menu data: Pecan Crunch Latte and Pumpkin Spice Chai list a 24 fl oz hot Venti, so check the cup when you order those.
How many espresso shots and syrup pumps are in each size?
Shots and pumps follow the Starbucks drink size, but not in a straight line. A latte and an Americano do not use the same number of shots, and an iced Venti gets more than a hot Venti because the cup is bigger. These are the standard recipes from the menu data:
| Drink | Short | Tall | Grande | Venti |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caffè Latte | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| Iced Caffè Latte | – | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Caffè Americano | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Iced Caffè Americano | – | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Cappuccino | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| Flat White | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 |
| Caramel Macchiato | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| Iced Caramel Macchiato | – | 1 | 2 | 3 |
A Venti iced latte has three shots while a hot Venti latte has two, which is why the iced one has more caffeine for its size. For syrup, the standard pumps rise by one per size:
| Drink | Short | Tall | Grande | Venti |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caramel Macchiato (vanilla syrup) | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| Iced Caramel Macchiato (vanilla syrup) | – | 2 | 3 | 5 |
| Caffè Mocha (mocha sauce) | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| Iced Caffè Mocha (mocha sauce) | – | 3 | 4 | 6 |
| Chai Latte (classic syrup) | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
If you want less sweetness, ask for fewer pumps and watch the calories drop in the Starbucks nutrition calculator.
How do calories and caffeine change by size?
Calories and caffeine rise with Starbucks cup size, but each drink climbs at its own rate. Here are five popular drinks at every size they come in. Caffeine is in milligrams.
| Drink | Tall | Grande | Venti | Trenta |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caffè Latte | 150 cal, 75 mg | 190 cal, 150 mg | 250 cal, 150 mg | – |
| Iced Caffè Latte | 100 cal, 75 mg | 130 cal, 150 mg | 180 cal, 225 mg | – |
| Caramel Macchiato | 190 cal, 75 mg | 250 cal, 150 mg | 310 cal, 150 mg | – |
| Cold Brew | 5 cal, 155 mg | 5 cal, 205 mg | 5 cal, 310 mg | 5 cal, 360 mg |
| Pink Drink | 110 cal, 25 mg | 140 cal, 50 mg | 200 cal, 75 mg | 280 cal, 100 mg |
Cold brew shows how fast caffeine can climb: 155 mg in a Tall, 205 mg in a Grande and 310 mg in a Venti, up to 360 mg in a Trenta. The FDA cites 400 mg a day as an amount not generally associated with negative effects for most healthy adults, so a Trenta cold brew alone is close to that line, which is worth knowing when you pick among Starbucks cup sizes (see the FDA caffeine page).
Which Starbucks cup size gives the fewest calories per ounce?
Bigger cups hold more drink, so the question is how many calories each fluid ounce carries. Dividing calories by ounces for the same drinks shows, across Starbucks drink sizes, that milk drinks get lighter per ounce as they grow, because the extra volume is mostly ice and milk, while syrup-heavy drinks stay dense. Short, tall, grande, venti, trenta are all measured the same way here: calories divided by fluid ounces.
| Drink (calories per fl oz) | Short | Tall | Grande | Venti | Trenta |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Caffè Latte | 12.5 | 12.5 | 11.9 | 12.5 | – |
| Caramel Macchiato | 15.0 | 15.8 | 15.6 | 15.5 | – |
| Caffè Mocha | 25.0 | 24.2 | 23.1 | 22.5 | – |
| Pink Drink | – | 9.2 | 8.8 | 8.3 | 9.3 |
| Iced Caffè Latte | – | 8.3 | 8.1 | 7.5 | – |
Use this when you want the most drink for the fewest calories: for a latte, stepping from Tall to Venti adds a lot of volume for a modest calorie increase, while for a mocha the sauce count rises with each size.
Starbucks cup sizes questions
How many ounces is a Venti at Starbucks?
