Easter 2028 is on Sunday, April 16. Western churches use the Gregorian calendar and Orthodox churches use the Julian calendar to work out Easter, so the two dates are usually different. Ash Wednesday 2028 and Lent 2028

Ash Wednesday 2028 is on March 1, the day after Shrove Tuesday on leap day, February 29. Pancake Day only lands on February 29 in a few leap years, so it is a fun date to mark on the calendar. Lent 2028 runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, April 15: 46 days, or 40 if you leave out the Sundays, recalling the 40 days Jesus fasted in the desert. Orthodox Great Lent 2028 starts on Clean Monday, February 28, because Orthodox Lent is counted differently, even though both Easters fall on the same day.

Advent and Christmas 2028

Advent 2028 begins on Sunday, December 3, the latest possible start, because Christmas falls on a Monday. That makes Advent 2028 as short as it can be: the fourth Sunday of Advent is also Christmas Eve, December 24.
