2028 bank holidays Ireland: New Year’s Day on a Saturday
New Year’s Day 2028 is a Saturday. Ireland does not move public holidays to the next weekday, so there is no automatic Monday off. For each public holiday, an employer gives one of the following: a paid day off on the day, a paid day off within a month, an extra day of annual leave, or an extra day’s pay. Part-time workers qualify once they have worked at least 40 hours in the five weeks before the holiday.
