What is on the Bhai Dooj coloring pages
Each page shows one part of the Bhai Dooj celebration in a big, simple picture.
| Page | Picture | Good for age | Colour idea or fun fact |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A sister putting a tilak on her brother’s forehead, holding an aarti thali, with marigolds | 5 to 9 | Colour the tilak red or orange-red and the diya flame yellow and orange. |
| 2 | A round aarti thali with a diya, a bowl of roli, rice grains, laddoos, a coconut and marigolds | 4 to 7 | Colour the plate silver or gold; laddoos are usually orange or yellow. |
| 3 | A round flower rangoli with four diyas and marigold circles | 5 to 9 | Pick three colours and repeat them so opposite petals match. |
| 4 | A brother giving a wrapped gift to his sister under a doorway with lights and a toran | 5 to 9 | Give the gift box stripes or dots, and make the lights many colours. |
| 5 | A brother and sister holding hands beside a big diya, inside a round frame of flowers and stars | 4 to 8 | Colour the frame flowers in rainbow order and leave the diya flame bright. |
Younger children can start with the aarti thali or the siblings with the diya. Older children will enjoy the tilak scene and the rangoli, which has a pattern to match on every side.
Easy Bhai Dooj drawing ideas, step by step
Children can copy these pictures freehand for a Bhai Dooj drawing, card or poster. Sketch in pencil first, go over the lines with a black marker, then colour.
How to draw an aarti thali
- Draw a big circle for the plate, then a second circle just inside it for the rim.
- In the middle, draw a small diya: a shallow bowl with a teardrop flame.
- Around the diya, draw a small bowl for roli (red powder), a few rice grains as dots and two round laddoos.
- Add a coconut (an oval with a little tuft on top) and a few marigold flowers as circles of small petals.
- Decorate the rim with a pattern of dots or tiny triangles, and colour the plate silver or gold.
How to draw a simple Bhai Dooj rangoli
- Draw a small circle in the centre and a bigger circle around it.
- Draw eight petals around the big circle: first top, bottom, left and right, then one between each pair.
- Put a small diya in each of the four main directions just outside the petals.
- Add rings of dots or marigold circles around the outside.
- Colour matching petals the same colour so the design is balanced. For more designs, see our Bhai Dooj rangoli designs.
| Bhai Dooj drawing idea | Level | Start with |

Coloring tips for Bhai Dooj coloring pages
- Tilak and roli. The tilak is usually red or orange-red, made with roli or kumkum, sometimes with a few grains of rice.
- Festive clothes. Bright colours such as red, yellow, pink and green suit the kurtas and salwar kameez.
- Diyas and lights. Leave a little white in each flame and colour the lights in many colours.
- Gift wrap. Try stripes, dots or stars on the gift box.
Turn the Bhai Dooj coloring pages into an activity
- Make a card. Glue the colored tilak or siblings page onto folded card and write a message from our Bhai Dooj wishes.
- Give it as a gift. A colored page in a simple paper frame is a lovely handmade present. See more ideas in our Bhai Dooj gift ideas.
- Play together. After colouring, try the questions and games in our Bhai Dooj quiz.
- Cousins’ corner. Print one page per child and colour together while the elders prepare the thali.
An easy Bhai Dooj drawing for a five-year-old
If your child would rather draw than color, start with the aarti thali. Draw a big circle for the plate, a small diya with a flame, three round laddoos and a little bowl of roli. This easy version takes about ten minutes and needs only a pencil and crayons.
- Ages 4 to 5: color page 3, the Bhai Dooj rangoli, then trace its petals with a finger.
- Ages 6 to 7: draw the thali freehand and copy the colors from page 2.
- Ages 8 and up: draw the tilak scene from page 1, the two faces first and the thali last, then add a border of diyas.

Using Bhai Dooj coloring pages in class: a note for teachers and parents
Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the last day of the Diwali festivities. Sisters put a tilak on their brothers’ foreheads and pray for their long life, and brothers give a gift and promise to support their sisters. It is known as Bhau Beej in Maharashtra, Bhai Phonta in West Bengal and Bhai Tika in Nepal. These pages show family customs and have no prayer text, so they suit mixed classrooms. Bhai Dooj 2026 falls on Wednesday 11 November.
Print the Bhai Dooj coloring pages a day early so the finished pictures are ready to give with the tilak.
